🎯 Module Objectives
  1. Describe various leadership roles within management, quality improvement and education for RNs in the perioperative environment.
  2. Recognize and explain the need for frontline RNs to advocate for changes to institutional policies and procedures based on evolving evidence.
  3. Describe methods for sharing knowledge and skills with colleagues.
  4. Describe opportunities to share knowledge with perioperative RNs widely through organizations such as ORNAC.

Introduction

Through formal and informal roles in the perioperative setting, nurses can provide leadership and bring about change. In the first part of this module, you will look at the various formal leadership roles in the perioperative setting, including manager, educator, and quality improvement leader. The second half will help you to discover the role that front line perioperative nurses play in leading change.
